Guidance
Welcome to the BAY! We are so excited you are here! Hello, my name is Ellen Holl and I am the school counselor here at Harrison Bay Future Ready Center! I love helping all students become the best version of themselves! Areas that are addressed through the school counseling program are issues affecting their academics, college and career planning, and personal/social interactions. I work with students through individual meetings, groups, and classroom guidance lessons. I have been a counselor for 15 years, during that time I have been able to help students with:
- Promoting positive attitudes among students towards self, family, peers and community.
- Assisting students in learning how school performance relates to future opportunities.
- Developing and delivering classroom guidance lessons that teach skills such as decision making, resolving conflict and respecting others.
- Working with students, parents and school staff to identify learning needs and to design interventions to enhance student success.
- Helping students to recognize and make the best of their abilities.
- Providing support during a personal crisis.
- Working with students on attendance issues.
- Coordinating referrals to outside agencies.
- Developing student career awareness.
- Helping to create a safe and positive learning experience.
GROWING UP ISN’T EASY! But I am here to help!
Dual Enrollment
WHAT IS DUAL ENROLLMENT?
Dual Enrollment (DE) is an opportunity for high school students to take college courses to earn both high school and college credits simultaneously. Students are dually enrolled at Harrison Bay Future Ready Center and a postsecondary institution. It is important to remember that DE courses become a part of your permanent college transcript.
Only rising juniors and rising seniors can apply to take DE courses
TSAC DUAL ENROLLMENT GRANT (DEG)
The TSAC Dual Enrollment Grant pays for qualifying students to take DE classes.
For rising juniors and seniors, the DEG will pay tuition for five (5) total dual enrollment courses
For students’ sixth through tenth DE courses, the grant will pay $100 per credit hour.
The DEG does NOT cover textbooks or other miscellaneous fees.
